Steps
Step 1: The sautéing process
The initial step is to place the sausage, ground beef, onion, and garlic into a Dutch oven that is heated over medium heat. Cook the ingredients until they are well-browned. Now it's time to add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and water. Don't forget to season it with sugar, 2 tablespoons of parsley, basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, Italian seasoning, fennel seeds, and pepper. Make sure to stir the mixture occasionally, and let it simmer for approximately 1 1/2 hours while it's covered.
Step 2: Preparing the noodles
It's time to prepare the noodles for the lasagna. Start by bringing a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles to the boiling water and cook them for 8 to 10 minutes.
